Ground Truth

Your referral program misses the referrals that matter

A referral program is a coupon for something that was already happening.

Someone loves the product, tells a friend, and you hand them both a discount for the paperwork. Useful. It also quietly reframes recommendation as a thing that needs an incentive, and it only ever sees the recommendations that stopped to fill in a field.

Most of them do not.

What the code captures

Your program counts the referrals that came with a link. A shared code, a forwarded email, a post with a tag. That is the word of mouth that happened online, where dropping a link is natural, or the word of mouth that needed a reward to move at all.

It is real and it is worth having. It is also the easy slice.

What it misses

A neighbor does not paste a link. They carry the box in from the porch, wear the thing at the gym, mention it at dinner. A coworker sees it on a desk. None of that comes with a code, so none of it reaches the program dashboard.

That uncounted recommendation is the strongest pull on a buyer there is. Your referral program takes credit for the fraction that was easiest to measure and stays blind to the fraction that actually spreads.

Where it does leave a mark

Offline recommendation leaves no receipt, but it does leave a shape. It shows up as clusters. A community producing new customers faster than its size and your spend can explain. That is word of mouth with no code attached, and your own sales file is the only place it surfaces.

We take that file, place every customer in the real world, strip out population and the paid spend behind them, and show you the communities catching on that nothing in your referral report can see.

The honest part

We do not print a word-of-mouth percentage. No one can measure that one honestly. We measure the acceleration that population and paid spend cannot explain, we show the misses next to the hits, and we prove it on your own history. Word of mouth is the likely reason, and we say likely on purpose.

The point

Your referral program measures the referrals you paid to see. The map shows the ones you got for free. The second kind is the one worth funding.
