Plan your Q4 mail in June or guess in October
Q4 feels far away in June. It is not. For offline channels, Q4 is being decided right now.
Print runs get booked months out. Mail lists get locked before the leaves turn. CTV and local media inventory for the season sells through the summer. By October the only decisions left are the rushed ones.
The calendar nobody talks about
Digital spoiled everyone. A campaign can launch tomorrow, so planning became optional. Offline never worked that way. The channels with the best untapped returns are also the ones with the longest lead times, and that is not a flaw. It is a filter that rewards brands who think ahead.
The brand that locks its holiday markets in June gets the inventory, the print pricing and the time to be deliberate. The brand that decides in October gets what is left, at a premium, chosen under deadline.
Deliberate means evidence
Here is what the summer is actually for. Not designing the postcard. Choosing the markets.
You are sitting on a year or more of order history, and inside it is the answer to the only question that matters for the Q4 map. Which communities accelerated on their own, with population and paid spend stripped out. Those are the places a holiday drop lands on warm ground, where the season amplifies momentum that already exists.
The October version of this decision is a dashboard sorted by volume and a deadline. The June version is a ranked list you had time to interrogate.
